I went outside early to try to beat the heat. It didn't work. It was already hot at 8:30 this morning.
I saw lots of butterflies! The mimosa tree was very popular with the Tiger Swallowtails and Black Swallowtails. I saw my first Monarch of the season, too. There were even hummingbirds enjoying the blossoms. I took lots and lots of pics, but my subjects all wanted to stay in the top of the tree and my pics weren't the best. I'm going to try again tomorrow. I snapped this Variegated Fritillary in the hay field. :0)
Thank you for your kind comments and faves on yesterday's Black Swallowtail! :0)
Beautiful shot - the heat is reaching here, too. Unfortunately, I like to walk at 6:15 and there's not much out - but it is cooler!! They're going to need to start coming to me! I've planted everything a butterfly is supposed to like.
Beautiful capture...I am so jealous of all your butterflies (and I still haven't seen a monarch this year!). I saw only one cabbage white on my walk yesterday, not even any of the little gossamers around. Then last night we had another wicked storm with hail and winds up to 140 km per hr....I don't know if I'm going to see many this year at all!
What a beautiful shot, Carolyn. Love the detail. I feel for you and the heat as we have had it and getting back into it again. So hot so early in the morning and just does not really cool off. FAV
Beautiful shot.
