Stomp by cjwhite

Stomp

I rarely get the urge to stomp one of my subjects, but this jumping spider was totally creepy. He was more interested in my camera than the insect beside him. He kept making aggressive moves in my direction. It wouldn't have bothered me so much, but I was using my 50mm and had to get really close.

I ended up leaving before he did. No spiders were harmed during or after this shoot. :0)
Wanna be honest - not a big fan of bugs but how can I resist? This is super fav shot:)

So strange -- that spider definitely is hovering at a plane that is above the other bug! Well captured, for sure!

Jumping Spiders are said to be very curious...Livia used to do a lot of photos of them and they would climb on her camera, etc. Harmless and very cute little guys. Great capture.

The jumper is Paraphiddipus aurantius, the beetle is in the family Meloidae. Such a vibrant image, nice capture.

Fav! He had those weird "jaws" at the front...and some junk that looks like extra legs. I saw one similar to this a few weeks ago and Robert Velten @robv told me it was a Green Magnolia Jumping Spider or a Magnolia Green Jumping Spider. One of those. I forget. They have this inter connected bunch of junk on their front side. And t hey do seem more aggressive. Freaky! I love it!
