I decided to try my hand at the "light of an electronic reflected in a spoon" thing tonight.

Normally I'm pretty much against such things, since most people and tutorials I've seen recommend just using a random photo from Google, an actual photo someone else took or art someone else created - which is theft. But a plain checkerboard graphic is just so generic; its not a photo or a piece of art. The plain ol' black and whites one can't be copyrighted since its just squares in one of the most common patterns there is.

I guess that makes me somewhat hypocritical but oh well. Nobody's perfect.

It didn't go all that well but I got a few usable shots. My camera's not so good at this kind of thing since it just picks up the "texture" of the screen. I'd need more control over the focus and dof.

But hey, its not that bad for a first try.
looks cool

It's good I think. I tried straight spoon reflections with zilch success!

I like the composition on this. Nicely done!

I really like the fact that the camera caught the pixel texture of the screen, but the spoon "cleaned up the noise" and made it smooth.

Pretty cool...like where you put the spoon in the frame. "Off an electronic"??? is this on a computer screen? Definitely looks like something I give a go at...right in my "wheel house"....

Oh, Carissa - you burst my bubble! I did not realize that most people used random photos from Google and I thought they were their own photos. Shows you just how naive I am!
But, your way of doing it is very authentic and very well done.

Interesting capture

It turned out nicely. The texture of the screen gives addition interest to the white squares.
