Arriving at my island getaway in San Francisco - rooms could have been a little comfier, but I got the no window single room, and it was wonderfully dark! Haha, amazing place to visit - so close to the city that it must have been tormenting for prisoners

I visited here many years ago, and it to this day it is still one of the most outstanding 'attractions' I have had the pleasure of wandering around. When we were there we met one of the former inmates - he was signing his autobiography!
@wag864 Yes, it's great. No former inmates there the day I went though, sadly. The Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia is also very interesting if you ever visit there
