The sasanqua camellias are in full bloom in our city now including especially at places like Magnolia Gardens. It is the first of the camellias to bloom. As the weather gets colder, other varieties will start their blooming cycle, continuing throughout the winter. The amazing thing is these plants produce such gorgeous flowers in cold weather. They can withstand fairly hard freezes, too, as long as the temps don't get below about 25 degrees, which is quite rare here.
