A stroke has left him unable to walk, talk or use his right hand, but his eyes tell his bride he loves her!
They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary three weeks ago and he celebrated his 88th birthday last Saturday - surrounded by loving family.
Today they allowed me to take their photo for a health region work project (yup - I got to take photos as part of my work) and the family also allowed me to post this photo tonight.
I am thankful because this is just a perfect photo of the day for me.
And it is moments like this that make my work so rewarding.

I would love to know their story but know you cannot share...the love in this man's face is so apparent...and them holding hands...tears in my eyes...so wonderful.
Another picture worth a thousand words. Very beautiful but I am sorry I can't keep it as my favourite as it makes me feel very sad when I look at :( but thanks for sharing your day. It must be very tough.
oh wow , this has touched me really hard ... tears in my eyes. i love the passion in this shot .. i feel their love for each other !!! u did a wonderful job here *fav*
What a beautiful way to capture love & commitment! One sees images of young love everywhere, but this... is so much more. You can“t fake the deep foundation & the bond of 60 years together - & you have made come through in this shot!
This picture touched me so much that my face went numb looking at it. I thought this kind of picture could only be taken with the subjects posing for it... but this one is so natural! Amazing capture! Great job!
Julie...I really needed to see this today!
So beautiful, it gives me goosebumps!
Please thank the family, and let them know how much they have touched all of us!
For more reasons than I care to list, this photograph has enormous personal resonance. Sometimes, one is so immersed in one's own family that one forgets -- these things happen to other people, too.
Thanks you everyone for your kind comments. It was one of those life moments that just presented itself as I stood there with my camera. I had only taken one shot before this to ensure my lighting was right - and then he opened his eyes to look at her. I felt the moment before the shutter caught it. This is why I love photography.
The wife gave him that pillow a while ago - something to grasp with his contracting hands.
This reminds me so much of my own parents ... not in their looks but in the way they were at the end of their lives. My heart is so moved, and this goes into my favorites.
I don't believe I've ever seen a more endearing photograph! Their story was so tenderly recorded by your camera; it's just visually stunning in every way!
So beautiful, it gives me goosebumps!
Please thank the family, and let them know how much they have touched all of us!
