Memories

This vintage photo is a favourite of mine, taken around 1925 it shows my Nanna, my mam on the right, next to her is my aunt Connie and on the left bearing no family likeness is aunt Dorothy who is my Mam's twin sister, there was just 15 mins between them! I also had 2 uncles but unfortunately I don't have any childhood photos of them. My grandad died around the time this photo was taken and my nan had to bring them up singlehanded, she sewed, washed, and decorated to make ends meet. Fortunately she lived till she was 82 so I got to know her really well, I think you might say she was feisty lady!!

A lovely record of earlier days. Your nana must have been a very busy lady to bring those children up on her own.

What a wonderful photo to cherish! I can see a family resemblance in the eyes of all of them :) I think your nan would have had to be a very strong woman to raise a family on her own in those days. great shot :)

I love reminiscing over old photos the sombreness of the time is evident - it is age away from the selfies that abound today

Love these old shots. I cam across a lot of them when my mom died, and scanned them and put them together into a Shutterfly book tied to the information I knew about them. At least it will never be lost now.

Thanks for sharing this lovely story. My grandma (on my mum's side) died at 80; she was widowed while pregnant with my mum (rip) and with a son barely 2 years old. They were hard times in those days.
