down, down, down by cruiser

down, down, down

here is our Koala trying to climb down unnoticed from the Golden Ash tree. This tree is midway between his two favourite Gum Trees and he uses it to cross the garden in two stages so that he is not on the ground too long. They are quite fast movers but dont feel safe till they are off the ground again. I like how it looks like he is wearing a brown shirt and grey pants.
I find the glimpse of Australia charming.

Love to see your koala's - they're fascinating!

Not only is his little outfit quite cute, so are his fuzzy-wuzzy ears!!

I see him and just want to ask him if I could give him a HUG!! I suppose that's one of the reasons he doesn't want to be on the ground long... humans that want to hug him. :)

I wonder how fast they are to come down.

Very pretty shots and lucky too for you to be able to enjoy him while he stays with you.

@sangwann thanks Dione. We never tire of having the Koalas visit our garden

@yaorenliu they can move quite fast when they need too. Even though they are so sleepy during the day

@lyndemc I have held one in a special native animal sanctuary where certain Koalas are used to being handled. They are so soft but quite heavy and you wouldnt want the to sink their claws into you

@olivetreeann their ears are always lovely and fluffy

@suklassen happy to show the off when we can

@cjphoto he does look cute doesnt he

@pennystot @thistle @pyrrhula @seanna @seattlite @onewing
thankyou all. I still have a few more shots of them to share

Are they there all year round? You must know how lucky you are to have these around your house! Awesome.

LOL I just read the following in my diary from Australia "That night Ernest cooked a huge pot of pasta, we could not even finish it all. The leftover pasta was neatly left in the pot but we discovered that Koalas also likes pasta. The next morning we found the lid under the tree and the pot totally empty." ....Maybe it was not the Koalas at all but something totally different, I dont even want to think about it LOL

Fav. Lovely story!

this is so special Chris. You are indeed lucky to have koalas so close to home. Hope they are not too disruptive. I have fallen in love with koalas when I was little, though never seen one, and enjoy seeing your captures

@veengupta thanks for the fav. Veena

@ninaganci thanks for the fav. Nina. They seem to have moved to another tree not so close. I think they have run out of new leaf tips and will have to wait till the tree grows more :)

@leananiemand the Koalas are around all year but we see them more in Spring when they are looking for a mate. We put water out for them in the very dry summer weather as normally they get all their moisture from the gum leaves but in summer they need more.
By the way I laughed at your diary entry! I am sure Koalas would not be tempted to eat pasta but there could be any number of native creatures who would be prepared to try anything left out for them :)

thanks for pointing me here Chris - he is a STUNNER! Those dark colours are a good sign of health :) He looks like a fair chunk of weight too. There is nothing like a koala in the back yard, let's hope we have them around for a very long time to come yet!

Oh, look at him! Look how he is making his way down!
October 27th, 2015
@kchuk they can move quite fast when they want to Elyse even though they spend much of their time snoozing up in the high branches

@koalagardens glad you could see him and to know that he appears very healthy to an expert like you. They seem to have moved on for the time being. Just as well because their favourite tree is looking a bit low on leaves. I wish they didnt snap off the shoots and drop them all over the path. Theyre a bit wasteful :)
