these two beautiful creatures attracted my attention whilst I was watering my plants on another hot Adelaide day. I could hear them softly warbling to each other. I found them sitting in dense shade on a branch of my Pittosporum tree.
Gorgeous. One for sorrow, two for joy.

thanks for reminding me of the nursery rhyme Babs. I had to Google it and here is the link for those who may not know it https://www.famlii.com/one-for-sorrow-magpie-poem-gender-prediction/

Magpies are very clever birds. We saw one dipping a hard piece of bread in the bird bath before eating it.

Watchful pair in the shade.......I love the tree name! It has a musical ring to it.
My daughter is in Melbourne so I've heard about your hot and dry conditions. Hope you get some rain soon.....in moderate amounts!

A great capture of those beautiful birds. Love the focus on them.

Eye-catching markings on these two- they (the markings) remind me of some of our woodpeckers. Good shot!

They look quite happy - sometimes maggies really seem to feel the heat - even to the stage of panting. They must like your garden. :)
