I have and will continue to document abandon sites, as I have seen much history left to decay and eventually,
demolished right before my eyes. I also share other subject matter, however this is my favorite genre.
The POV on this is great, I love your keen eye for the removal of history right before our eyes..... This happens all too frequently and so many people are oblivious to the importance of appreciating how far we have come. Great picture, I love it :)
@aurorajane Thankyou for noticing. I appreciate it very much! :) @kellc I love your feedback Kelly! Thankyou so much. :) @abhijit so you figured it out! lol Thankyou! :)
Ah @kellc you are very sweet! First if you haven't already read my bio...it will explain my pov a little. What I do comes very natural to me. I never over think or over process an image. That's just me. Everyone is unique. I know & feel what I'm shooting & how I want to present it. That said, actually lightroom is my favorite, I find it the perfect software at the moment. If you shoot a well composed, well exposed image, it's great for touchups. I desaturate alot, then go back & tone as to my taste.
I lean towards an antique, nostalgic look. I prefer to start with a b&w image, & edit to taste. Split tone, etc. I hope that helps. Feel free to ask away any time, I'm humbled by it. All the beautiful work here, including yours!!! :)
FYI as I save some money, will aquire appropriate software & go a little "crazy" see where it takes me. Trials help
in the meantime. Rt. now exp. with ACDsee Pro 5, along w/ LR. I don't think I'm going to keep it. Similar to LR, but does some better textures. The files are a pain to deal with. I'm sure there's something else I'll try I'll like better. :) xoxo
I share your love of the old and neglected, and the wish to record as much as possible before 'progress' banishes it for ever. This one had me a bit puzzled until I got the orientation right but now I see it clearly.
@ wordpixman I'm walking up to the 3rd floor. I explore an area pretty throughly. On the right is an old arched shape opening, which was a huge
window. You can see the brick and cement. I loved the texture.
It is interesting to watch buildings coming done. Sad in many cases but still a part of the history of that building. I posted a shot of a demolition of an old bank building here back on Feb.3,2012
@d4photo13 Thanks Donna - that is very similar to what I do in Camera Raw to achieve the sepia tone - yours is just a much better tone than mine - I will have to keep playing. Thanks for taking the time to reply!
Your a woman after my own heart! I love old abandoned buildings and structures too! Unfortunately where I live, land is so valuable its hard to find this stuff! awesome POV and processing! love this!
@lleucullwyd well, thankyou very much! @bkbinthecity history and documenting are important. One thing about photography you will have the memory forever. I'll have to check that out when I get time. Thankyou. I see you are on crutches, I hope you are feeling better. :) @ddshin thankyou very much. Appreciate. @orangecrush oh that's to bad. I have the opposite problem ( a plus if your creative ). If you ever swing over to the east coast you would love it! It's a goldmine!
love your pov and textures in this shot. I'll follow you because I really like your style and think it is fantastic that you document old buildings before they disappear altogether.
Thankyou @sabine! That is very much appreciated. I work very hard and it's so gratifying when it's acknowledged. :) Makes me work harder. I will follow you back!
@dlaudner oh that's to bad, I'm glad you like. I find them intriguing and exhilarating at the same time, wondering what it is was like at that particular time in history. However, it does dismay me to see so many of them rot and decay, instead of restoring the original architecture, which itself was a work of art! If the opportunity ever arose and you guys make it to the east coast, you know who to contact to show you all the "cool" spots. ;) xoxo
@jsw0109 very observant. :) You are funny. I for one reason or another find a peaceful feeling in abandoned buildings. No fear. ps. I'm still laughing. Good comment!
