After all the frenzied activity in the pond in mid march <a href=" http://365project.org/daffodill/365/2011-03-12"><img src=" http://media.365project.org/1/1174145_cdhlmtz479_m.jpg" alt="Treading Water on 365 Project" title="Treading Water on 365 Project" width="550" height="420" border="0" /></a>
came the ice!
Then the frogspawn seemed to disappear & break down.
All that effort, for nothing!
I was convinced that the eggs weren't fertilised, and if they were it had been too cold afterwards!
Imagine my surprise on Wednesday, when I noticed lots of movement in the pond - tadpoles, millions of them had hatched out of sight.
At the moment they are oblivious to being watched. As they get older they get much more wary, but meanwhile it is great to watch them.
