Good Friday by daffodill

Good Friday

Hope diminished
the sky turned black
No looking back
No chance for freedom
when the crowd is baying for your blood.
As they misunderstood
and thought that your death was their idea.
As you breathed your final breath
and took the burden of sins from time past
present and future
the sky turned black
and weeping turned to numb acceptance
as even your friends and kin
didn't grasp that you would rise again.
That death would be defeated
sins power would be broken
by wheels set in motion
by the words that were spoken
by Judas
Pilate and yourself.
Darkness will be defeated
but meanwhile we mourn
the sin that led to the sacrifice
and the pain that was born.

Burn healing fires
purify the ground.
Send forth the Holy Spirit
bring joy to the land.

Today my daughter turned 14, which she thought was pretty special - the second year of being a teenager.
In the morning we went to the Good Friday service and in the evening we had a reflective service.
In the afternoon we went out for a couple of hours and headed to Hilliers Farm Shop near Evesham.
We discovered the bird hide, which was brill. I don't think I have seen a woodpecker at such close quarters before.
I also got a good shot of a robin.
Just before we venture into the farm shop to be tempted by the various gastronomic delights within, we saw this smoke arising, which was wonderfully atmospheric and suited the mood of Good friday
Love the poem and photo! Happy Birthday to your daughter! Fav
