School has started for the year. With the arrival of Autumn, I start mentoring at one of our local schools. I started mentoring earlier in September this year. After my mentoring session, I shot this scene through the windshield. Seeing the fencing in front of me reminded me of the security measures. I knew I had violated one of the security measures today and I was trying to figure out what I did wrong. When I drove into the parking lot, the guard in front of the school gave me a long stare and started to get out of his truck. He sat back down in his truck when he saw my school tote bag. After my mentoring session, I decided that I should figure out what security measure I had broken. I sat in my car and thought for a while, but I could not figure out exactly what I had done wrong. Finally, I drove out of the parking lot in the old familiar way. When I reached the street, I realized that I had driven into the parking lot through the exit and that there was a new entrance to the south. Next week, I will drive in the new entrance and perhaps the security man will be calmer.
How good of you to mentor at the school - so many children have so many needs and sometimes it just takes a little one on one time for them. As a retired teacher, many many thanks for what you do.
@milaniet Thanks! I am a retired teacher too. I find mentoring very rewarding. It made my day today when my student greeted me with a gigantic smile on his face.
@deu49097@la_photographic@tonygig@pyrrhula Thanks for all of your comments. Next school year, I will try to remember to ask the school counselor if any new security measures are in place.
That is such an uneasy feeling but it appears he figured out you didn't know of the change in traffic flow. I like how all the confusing lines in this shot sort of sum up your experience!
