Winter Storm Jupiter came in the form of mixed precipitation. There was an lacy look to the trees for several hours. The emergency personnel warned people about the extreme dangers this multi-day storm would bring. Fortunately, the storm did not hit my city with all of its force. The storm split into two parts: a northern storm and a southern storm. This meant that we did not get much precipitation. The storm slowed down before it hit my city. This meant the temperatures were just a degree or two above freezing during the worst part of the storm. We received 2/10ths of an inch of ice. If we would have received .25 of an inch of ice (just a half of a tenth more), we would have started experiencing long lasting electric power outages. As it was, 184 homes experienced a lost of electric power for about two hours. I was fortunate that this happened in another section of my city. I am glad that Winter Storm Jupiter did not live up to the warnings. Another piece of good news: due to all of the warnings, we now know how to better prepare for any possible ice storms in the future.
