July 7: Cone Flower

The cone flower is a native wildflower in my state. I look forward to seeing it bloom each summer.

They're so pretty. I was hoping to get a large patch of them growing in one of my gardens but the soil is not great and the deer kept eating them even when I sprayed them. Now I just enjoy them here on 365. Lovely shot!

It's a beautiful spot of this lovely flower. Only one year have I gotten them to grow.

@olivetreeann Thank you. I find growing cone flowers is tricky. I discovered that they do best if left to grow wherever they want to grow.

@milaniet I have found that cone flowers want to grow where they want to grow and not where I want them to grow. I still find it difficult to keep them alive the second year.
