I took this photo in 2013 in Philadelphia. In doing the black and white challenge, I chose to work on some old photos to see how I could improve them. I liked this way this came out. It almost seems like a pencil drawing. The light was harsh that day. Comments/feedback always welcomed.
In 1346, the English King Edward III laid siege to the French Port of Calais. Eleven months later, Edward demanded the surrender of six of the town's leading men, or burghers, in return for sparing its citizens. Rodin's sculpture commemorates this episode and emphasizes the internal struggle of each man as he walks toward his fate wearing a sackcloth and rope halter. The burghers were later spared thanks to the intervention of the English Queen who feared that their deaths would bring back luck to her unborn child.
@danette - Oh yes. I only read the part that shows on the home page. I thought maybe he got a new camera and couldn't figure out all the buttons, dials and settings!
@skipt07 or trying to learn WordPress to set up a new website. My son is helping me now. You'll get used to your camera. The sculpture, though, was large. Overpowering, really.
@danette - It is overwhelming! It is amazing the detail in the expression of his face as well as in its arms. I took a course a number of years ago through Penn State for Webmaster. I thought my oldest daughter and I could do web design. I learned HTML and Java Script. She is very talented when it comes to layout. We did a few pages, but we never really advertised. It was mostly by word of mouth. But the people who wanted us to do pages wanted all kinds to things but didn't want to pay for it. It is amazing what "friends" seem to think their friends should do for them for nothing.
