@lynnz @axika @eyesmile @thresheg @mittens @homeschoolmom @cimes1 @soboy5 I really thank you all for your feedback. My goal was to get some of the close up details of the town. I didn't realize Micanopy is the oldest inland town in Florida (of course, St. Augustine is the oldest town in all of America). @cimes1 You really should make a side trip. It's like going back in time.

It's kind of sad when small towns that once thrived are forgotten because other towns spring up or because of their locations and available land many businesses will relocate and before you know it the small towns pretty much become just memories.

Lovely Spanish moss and building textures... this shot takes one back in time, that's for sure. For some reason, I like the dark water stains on the garage wall, too.

@skipt07 Micanopy is a bit off the standard old town. It is a tourist destination because of the antiques and old town feel. It looks a little tired in these photos, but it was also not a pretty day. It struggled from its heyday back in the boom years, but it is recovering. In some ways, it would be an ideal place to live, somewhat like Mayberry. You have shops nearby without any crowds (population is less than 600!). It is not far from the University of Florida and in a county that is anti-growth. Though there is an exit off I-75 just a mile or so from town, you have to deliberately go there to be there. No one just passes through. It is off the beaten path. The Sunday we were there, many people were eating in the café and walking the streets. I have not been there in many years without it being the craft festival weekend. If you go that weekend, you may have to park a mile away!

@Weezilou It is absolutely a great southern town. I sure hope you make it to the south! There is so much to offer!

@rosiekerr Thanks for saying you like the dark stains. I wasn't sure how people would interpret them.

I love the textures! I dig old brick buildings! I just got back from Willmington NC and had a ball! You just don't see this in So Cal!

@danette - Thanks Danette! Now I have the urge to whistle the Mayberry theme song! :-o
