After a long week of my son being in the hospital, he was discharged. Yay! I made the long journey home. There is a stretch of highway known as Alligator Alley that takes you through the Everglades. There are few exits (no gas for 52 miles). I finally reached a rest area and took a few photos of the setting sun. It was "pretty" but on the dull side. I figured that was all there would be and left. Behind me, I could see the sun peak out and turn a brilliant orange. As the miles ticked away, I could see the sky turn absolutely stunning. But! You can't pull over. There is a steady stream of cars going 80 mph and it's a dangerous road. I had to drive probably 8 miles to the next exit (fortunately the long part was behind me). Knowing the setting sun changes in moments, I hoped to get there in time. I pulled over on the overpass and took this. I love the oak hammock areas of the Everglades. Unbelievably, after I took this shot, I got back on the highway and the sky CONTINUED to turn amazing colors! How do you drive forward and look at the setting sun behind you?? Fortunately, there was a recreational access area and I pulled over again. Here is my alternate shot: http://365project.org/danette/extras/2015-01-31
