Alternative Road to Ft. Lauderdale by danette

Alternative Road to Ft. Lauderdale

This path is actually the top of the dike of the Everglades between Coral Springs and Sunrise, Florida. They just officially opened up this area for trailhead access (though people have been getting to this spot for years). Now, it is full of people biking, hiking and fishing. At sunset, it gets quite busy.
Great shot

It sure does look off the beaten path. Love it. Looks like a road my husband would want to drive down and explore. Cool shot.

@mittens Whereas you can't get your car onto this road, there are plenty of dirt roads in the Everglades!

Very cool perspective and love how the path comes to a vanishing point.

@danette Thanks for the info, Danette. We usually explore in our car.

@mittens Have you ever been to the Big Cypress National Reserve? There are a few roads there, including Loop Road which you must do. That's an 18-20 mile dirt road where you can see all kinds of wildlife.

@danette That sounds so interesting, Danette. I'll have to make a note of it for the next time we visit my daughter in Florida. She took us to a reserve once when we visited but it was a boardwalk type one that wasn't too long.
