My brother's by danette

My brother's

Still hanging at my brother's awaiting Hurricane Irma to come knocking. The news is depressing. I wanted to spend time here visiting old haunts, but I am holed up inside instead. He lives far out and gas is too short in supply to go out. Traffic is heavy in some areas as people evacuate. Praying this storm gets chopped up in the Cuban mountains. My oldest son and his wife went to S. Carolina to stay with family. My other son will bunker with a friend. His wife flew out to the Midwest. Her mom was begging me last night to come to their house. It's pretty surreal. My brother's house, not being anywhere near hurricane territory, isn't built to hurricane codes! Hoping it isn't a Category 2 by the time it passes over us. At least he has no trees that can fall on the house. That's my concern with my house...if our tree falls on the roof or if the storm spawns tornadoes. The eye and worst part of the storm is expected to pass over my town early Sunday morning.
A beautiful shot. I've been watching the news of the hurricane and the scenes shown of devastation so far are horrifying. And there's a second one on the way! Mother Nature can be do cruel sometimes. Just keep your heads down and stay as safe as you can over the there!

Beautiful shot. I'm glad your family is being safe and going to better places to weather out the hurricane. My daughter and her family are still trying to get here to Pennsylvania. They left North Carolina today and will hopefully make it here later. My daughter said it is slow going since the traffic is so heavy and they've seen accidents that are slowing things down, too.

I so hope that all of your family stay safe. It is difficult to look at this gorgeous terrain and think that a hurricane is coming your way.

Lovely scene. The greens and blues are pretty! It must be surreal looking at this bright cheerful scene knowing that such a huge storm is coming.

@darylo thanks so much for your offer! I had friends who drove up there--took them 25 hours! We are boarded up here, so hoping that storm fizzles.

@danette I have friends who are ordered to vacuate Jax beach areas but are afraid of running out if gas because of traffic. But some hwys will now go reverse direction. Hopefully that will help? I would hate to get stuck on the highway somewhere

Hi Danette. I hope you and your family are okay. My daughter and her family are still up here in PA with us. A friend of hers checked on her house this morning and said it looks to be okay with only some minor outside damage. There electricity is out, though. I'm not sure when my daughter and her family will be heading back. Probably tomorrow on Tuesday. I hope you have electricity.
