Annunciation Sculpture by danette

Annunciation Sculpture

This sculpture is on a church in the town of Ave Maria, near Naples, Florida. It is a town developed in 2007. It started with Ave Maria University. This chapel sits right on their campus and in downtown Ave Maria.
It depicts the moment Gabriel announced to Mary that she would give birth to Jesus.
It is made of 54 tons of Carrara marble, mined from the same quarry used by Michelangelo.
A lovely capture. Love the sun burst. Fav.

What a beautifully captured image, Danette! Such an interesting story to go with it, and nice to see something in that region to know it wasn't all damaged!

@Weezilou While there was no building damage in Ave Maria, the eye of the storm went right over (or nearby). Hundreds of trees were down and signs were broken. That area still has a lot of people without power. We even passed a location where people were getting free food and water. Even saw some flooded areas. In spite of all the landscape damage everywhere (my city says it will take up to 4 weeks to collect all the vegetation), we are very thankful that we are all safe.
