My uncle, 97, recently underwent brain surgery. He is healthy for his age. Still, it has been a rough 2 weeks on the family. This is my 90 year old aunt. They have been married 74 years! He was awake here and she was telling him she loves him, just like she does hundreds of times each day. She stays with him all day and my cousin stays all day and night. They just moved him to a different facility yesterday, which wore him out. The doctor at the old hospital had recommended they remove his feeding tube since he couldn't swallow well. Of course, that would kill him in a few days. They were appalled and I just walked in after they were told this recommendation! They told the doctor that God would make those decisions. What's crazy is that, though some days are tough, he can talk and move and recognize people by name.
Aw, what a sad but sweet moment you've captured here. There's an inner strength in certain older people that never fails to amaze me. Hope he pulls through for you all bless him.
