The heatwave continues, with no end in sight. So in celebration, the whole month of July features the UK summer in all it's glory.
I set up a seat in the front garden waiting for birds at the feeder. As I was getting hotter and hotter and nearly giving up - these two starlings settled in to feed. I took a number of shots, however decided on this one purely for the fact that I've never caught a bird with it's wingspan on show.
Apparently it reached 30°C yesterday!
From the met office this morning:
There is a 90 % probability of heatwave conditions between 0900 on Thursday and 2100 on Friday in parts of England.
Southwest England and the West Midlands have been elevated from level 2 to level 3. Southeast England and London remain at level 3. The East Midlands, Yorkshire and the Humber and East of England remain at level 2. North East England and North West England remain at level 1.
The Heat-Health Watch system comprises four levels of response based upon threshold maximum daytime and minimum night-time temperatures. These thresholds vary by region, but an average threshold temperature is 30 °C by day and 15 °C overnight.
Instant fav! My favourite occupation (sitting in the garden in summer photographing the birds) and my favourite birds - starlings, cheeky and full of character! This image is just wonderful and the shot of the starling flying in is superb. Gorgeous!
Beautiful shot!!! your birds must be happy, with so many treats for them!!! That sounds like our very average summer weather... I love it... but I'm used to it... hope it's gets a bit cooler for you!!!
Great capture, I haven't managed to shoot (mind the expression!!) any birds but I'm sure I will while down on Saltdean beach ( Brighton) today while enjoying this hot weather :D
