The beautiful Finnish Lapland landscape provided us with plenty of photo opportunities including some on one of my bucket list journeys. Imagine my joy when I was told we were the only people booked in at our particular time for a reindeer ride! After being shown the basics on steering with two diferent colour ropes we got to pick and harness our own reindeer. The guide was more than welcoming and happily took us out on an hour and fifteen minute journey which took in the most beautiful of scenery whilst the sun was setting ahead of us! After this incredible ride we were taken to a teepee for hot sausage, pancakes with homemade strawberry jam and hot berry juice for lunch. We were told about the history of the reindeer farm and the herd and also given a reindeer licence which was valid for 5 years! We were told we had to go back to get it renewed and that we would be remembered. Whether that's a good thing or not, who knows!!
