It Never Rains in California... (love this song)

it pours, man it pours, and hails like today. We have been drenched by a lot of rain, lightening and thunder for a couple of days now. I was on the other side of town with my son in a huge downpour when my husband called and said it was hailing across town at our house, so much that everything was white. Of course I had his camera and mine so he was not able to take any photos. I took quite a few when we got home but so much had already melted away. Looked like it snowed at our house for the first time since we have lived here, and quite a beautiful site to see. It has been pouring for a few hours as I comment on photos and sit and type this post but supposed to stop tomorrow and warm up by Sunday.
Snow in spring!? The weather has been very unpredictable, hasn' t it. White snow on green grass looks surprising. Nice shot of the evidence. 8)

@myautofocuslife Crazy weather here. Still raining/pouring this morning and more storms later today, early tonight. May see that white stuff again or may be shopping in it. It is supposed to be 70 degrees by Sunday. The weather has definitely been unpredictable. Thank you for your comments, Livia. Appreciate them as always.

@sunnygreenwood You are so right, Anne. Sure wish I had seen it all white but may see it later today as we are supposed to have more and then warm up by Sunday. Crazy weather.

@deburahiru We have gotten so much crazy weather this Spring. Wish I was here to see it come down as Dan said it looked like our pool was boiling. Would have recorded that. It is supposed to get bad again later today so may be able to capture more. Snow levels are really low so temps have dropped. Thank you for your comments, Deb.

@princesicita Thank you, Princess. We rarely have hail but when we do it melts once it hits the ground.

so had it stopped or did you back the car out of the garage to get this photo.
Hope it clears . We're expecting 80 degree weather Sunday... Talk about crazy weather

@mittens So beautiful to come home to white. Wish I was here when it happened. It sure got cold and remains that way today, cold and raining/pouring.

@vskolnik The rain is nice to have, Vee, but when it soaks you in a second or two, it is too much. You are right, the clouds are beautiful when the weather is like this. Too bad I do not have a good view of them. May dare to take a walk later to our park. Do not want to chance getting drenched though.

@lesip By the time my son and I got home it had stopped and what you see, is what was left. I was going to do a collage of it but my husband hated my collage. I walked around outside and took quite a few photos. Wish I was here when it happened as he said it looked like our pool was boiling with so much hail bouncing off of it. Our lawn was covered in white but was melted to this point when we arrived home. Wow, it is hot where you live compared to here, but we are to hit 70 on Sunday and in the 70's next week. Hard to believe as we are to have more storming later today and have to do our grocery shopping possibly in it. Enjoy your warm/hot weather, Leslie. Very crazy weather.

Great capture, Darlene! Always amazing to see hail like this. Glad it wasn't golf ball size! Yikes!

@marlboromaam Thank you so much, Maggie. I have never seen hail like this. It was so beautiful. Wish I was home when it happened. May happen again tonight when we are supposed to grocery shop. I am glad it was not golf ball size either. The rain was pretty intense on the other side of town as well. My son and I left one store and walked into a huge shallow lake in the parking lot and got soaked. He could not see to drive, so lucky that we had another stop in the same area and he sat in the car and I ran out. Crazy weather.

Great picture of the "snow" in California.. I guess the rain is coming our way by tomorrow and to stay for about one week..not looking forward to that.

@bruni Thank you, Bruni. Looks like snow, doesn't it. It is really dark this afternoon so looks like we will be storming once again tonight as the middle of our day has stayed rain free. Good luck with the rain, so nice to dry out hopefully starting tomorrow, but for sure on Sunday and the week to come.

@copperheadglass Thank you so much, Meredith. I am glad it was small also and no damage. We have never had huge hail and hope we never do.

I love your POV on this one, Darlene ... and, of course, the hail! That must be a surprise for your part of the country! Wonderful capture.

@karenann Thank you very much for your comments, Karenann. It was beautiful, only wish I was home to see it happen and to get better photos. I almost did a collage as I took photos in our front and backyard, but this was my husbands favorite and I went with it. We do not get hail usually and never get snow, but we are in the Valley and that is why. Start driving into the foothills, not too far, and into Lake Tahoe and tons of snow as you go up in elevation, plus a lot colder as you go up in elevation. Though the coolness of this weather has really dropped causing this to happen yesterday and possibly later today. Since we did not get much precipitation during the Winter but had extremely cold days, (in the 20's) we got no snow or hail at that time. It has been very strange and unusual weather for some time now.

Great capture of the hail, Darlene ... glad you were able to see it before it was gone. What unusual weather! We could sure use some of that rain, here. We're actually borderling on drought and still no rain in sight. Wish we could share!

What a crazy day!!! I love that song too and am now humming it! Would sing it but I realized I only know that one line! Ha! Maybe I will have to look up the words. Anyway, glad you got some of the hail before it melted and glad your hubby helps you pick! I ask my son and husband for help. The only problem is they rarely agree!

I've heard the weather reports for your area and sounds like you've really been hit with the downpours! I think we're in for some of that this weekend. Neat shot, Darlene.

@wannabe It was a really crazy day, Catherine. I love so many songs, this one seemed appropriate. Nothing like a song to go with a photo. I know most of the words, you are too funny. I am so glad I got some of the hail before it melted and wished I was here so much to take photos of it as it happened and right after. My husband and I do not always agree on a photo, nor does he always want to chose but he was very vocal on this one. My son and husband do not agree either most of the time. This was going to be a collage. I am glad to know I am not the only one who had two in their house who do not agree about photos that is.

@debsphotos Our weather has been crazy as you can see, and cold so keeping warm. Did not get the rain that we were supposed to get tonight so did not get soaked shopping. Good luck with the rainy weather this weekend, Debbie. Thank you for your comments, always appreciate them.

@cindyrez Thank you, Cindy. That was a lot of hail but not as it was before my son and I got home and not all that was in our yard, there was the side and back yard.

@giffy Welcome to the West Coast, Giffy. What a trip to have hail like this dumped on you when you arrived. The weather men never said that we were to have hail, just a rain storm. I would have stayed home for it. Enjoy your visit in Oregon.
