The Azores, Miradouros Everywhere, Lagoa das Sete Cidades

Hello, friends from 365! I've been absent a long time, and I'm hoping to share photographs from my latest adventure to the Azores, a set of islands in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, about 1000 miles from the coast of Portugal (the Azores are an independent part of Portugal and the people from there speak European Portuguese).

A friend of mine is interested in looking at property in the Azores, and she invited me to go along with her on her latest trip. We stayed on the main island (Sao Miguel), and we had a wonderful exploration of many parts of the island (based ourselves in Ponta Delgada for 5 nights and then in Furnas 2 additional nights). We spent four days in NYC first before taking our direct flight to Ponta Delgada (only about 5.5 hours).

This shot is taken with my phone! I did take a friend's Sony a6400 for this trip (alas, my Canon 7DMii is too heavy for travel these days), but all the shots I got with his camera were in manual focus mode accidentally (really heart broken over that), but my phone is really better at landscapes than I can ever do with a camera honestly.

And the day before I left for this trip, I bought a used Sony a7Rii from a photographer friend releasing some of his old gear. I'm hoping to start up this project again while learning an entire new system--if I have any friends with this camera, I'd love to connect as I am CLUELESS in this new venture! I also bought a Zeiss 35mm from my friend, so I'll be a one-lens gal for awhile.

Back to the Azores. Magical is the word I would use for the beautiful island of Sao Miguel. The weather is temperate, the island is lush, everywhere are thermal vents (and natural pools/waterfalls to wade in), the waters are clear and blue (or green), and the botanical and sea flora and fish are exquisite. I've been to some beautiful places in my life (Bali, Japan, Peru, etc.), but this one has me in awe from the people I met, to the places to visit, to the "laid back" routine of life there. Of course, I was just a tourist, but I really enjoyed my time there, and I can see why my friend is interested in this area for future living!

Anyway, hotdog! I hope to be visiting more soon. I will make a diligent effort to comment as much as I can, but reality is my time is short (new work too) and my learning curve is steep with this new camera of mine! I don't even have CC yet to develop photos from the new camera.

xoxo, Daryl

This is gorgeous. I'll be excited to see your other adventure shots...phone or not! Re the Sony 7 R2. I don't have that but I do have Sony A 7 R4 so feel free to pick my brain. You still have my email, right? wonderful to "see" you again

Hot Dog! Fabulous to see you posting especially with this gorgeous photo!

We had orders to the Azores but my husband decided to get out of the service instead of going there. Based on this photo I regret that
