I'm still not sure if this is my photo for the day, but I did take a good amount of time chasing birds today and this one was a nice final shot. I think this is a cedar waxwing, and he was playing in the trees with bluebirds and robins. There were cardinals too, but they are so skittish that I could not get a proper focus. This little guy posed for me, so I'm rewarding his efforts!
I wanted to upload a photo of my new raclette (a table-top cooking device often used by the Swiss) and the red coil beneath as I heated it up, so I may change my mind later by end of day to post that one instead.
I can see getting the ACE version very soon. So far, I just upload the extras that don't make it to 365 on my "didn't make the cut" file in Facebook, but I think having a couple of albums here would really help!
Today is a grading day for me, so taking a walk to capture the birds in flight was a nice distraction!
@vskolnik Vee, I think I see a bird book purchase in my future! @skatied Thanks! I caught a few of these the other day (and opted for another photo instead)--3 of them looking like the 3 amigos! I love their "masks"
Lovely shot. We have another species of Waxwing that winters in Britain in various numbers. This year is a good year and there are thousands but I have still not found any.
It is very similar I think, ours is slightly bigger and has yellow on its wings , a real beauty, and they can be really really approachable. I think I need to try harder to find one this year.
@dstod thanks for the comment! I caught a bunch of them after a rain one day all gathering in some water pools on the ground. Catch them after a rain! :)
