Waiting

It's strange how much I can fill in a day with nothing or something or both. Yesterday, I went to the mall with my daughters so I could hit (not kill) two birds with one stone (one wanted a Starbucks and the other wanted to use her coupon at "Hot Topic" that was only for this week). I lugged my camera along thinking, "Oh, they'll run off to get what they need and I'll see if I can get an abstract shot or something."

As soon as we got there, I remembered that Daughter one needed some essentials, so I said, let's get the Starbucks, go get the essentials, and then we'll finish off at Hot Topic. But ohhhhh, there are Homecoming dresses on the rack! And ohhhhh, look at these things we have to try on! And ohhhh, someone got a coupon at school for $1 off an Aunt Annie's pretzel/drink combo (the same kid that wanted a Starbuck's drink). And, And, And! All that time, I was lugging the camera bag with too many lenses--heavy.

So finally, after essentials, after the Homecoming dress tryons--geez, they are getting old fast--I sent them to Hot Topic to gather whatever thing that would come to a final $15 purchase according to the coupon. I'm dizzy.

I sit on the sofa in the middle of the mall thinking the shot is either going to be of a worker, a walker, a few teens, or...this skylight and the shadow cast on the wall. These shots are always tricky because lines and precision matter--don't want anything off. So here it is.

Tomorrow, my husband returns (or the next day) after he has moved my dearest father-in-law to an assisted living retirement village. I know he must be exhausted in the same way I was after the death of his mother.

Meanwhile, one daughter has an injured leg, and I've spent the entire morning with the Dr., the insurance folks, and appointment people trying to explain that my husband works for Tenet (a hospital chain), and as employees, we get special benefits--but no one is responsible if I mess up the benefits or don't double check, and when I double check, I'm directed back to the folks who have told me what to do to check. It's #$@#### maddening! I'm just trying to save a buck.

Hopefully will take photos this weekend.
i work in a medical office and spend a good deal of my time/energy trying to cull information out of insurance company service reps I feel your pain! Great lines though! :)

Loved your mall story and found your health story equally frustrating! Nice lines and light here!

Let me tell you this would have been a perfect shot for the artist challenge that just ended-Mondrian! Perfect as an abstract anyway too! FAV
I get tired just reading about your stressful days! I don't know how you LIVE them! ;~}

Nice shot! :)

@grammyn Oh, I love Mondrian. I haven't even visited a discussion topic in the longest time. My life is a pill at the moment. I'm literally hanging on as best I can. Today was much more complicated after my post. And so frustrating. My husband takes to the streets to drive overnight home from NY, which is not settling AT ALL. My father-in-law is moved, but I imagine this will be a huge adjustment, and Mike couldn't stay longer. It's all so draining. But rest assured, I am taking moments out for myself--I watch Netflix, and I'm reading Crime and Punishment for the first time--I know, shocker that an English major skipped that one completely. Interesting .99 read! :)

@lisatown I was going to go ballistic on the phone with the insurance company AFTER I finally arrive at the appointment for my daughter with the so called Dr. who was supposed to be fully covered under our special employee plan--NOPE, so I opted to go to the Urgent Care where we are guaranteed 100% coverage and an xray (to determine if a fracture existed) instead of pay about $1,000 for the same. I'm sooooo done with medical care/insurance/benefits. And I have insurance. I can't imagine what it's like for those who still don't have anything--I'm in GA, so there's plenty...

Well at least there was one good thing about your day, this shot! It is so abstract and well composed. Keep hold of that in the chaos.

@darylo My life isn't as hectic as yours but I find I am not participating in the challenges and discussions as much either
