I love this shot of my daughter playing in the very little snow we did get yesterday.
The kids have been out of school too much because of an "abundance of caution" on the part of the schools and some seriously erred weather reports (I swear, based on all the different reports we consulted, one could expect a rainbow unicorn butterfly kitten to appear at any moment). It's been pretty ridiculous.
Last year, Atlanta experienced a winter disaster after solid weather reporting ("hey, Atlanta, it's going to be reeeealllly cold and anything wet WILL turn to ice immediately") met "lack of any caution" on the part of the schools.
@grammyn I wish they would just call the person who has lived here her whole life. I called it last year, and I'm calling it again this year: if it's expected to snow and get wet and the temp is about 13 degrees, cancel school. If it's over 35 degrees and it's going to get wet, it will melt. Even snow. I don't mind a day or two, but we've missed over 3 days and only one of those days had any snow. They called today too early and the snow moved somewhere else. Whatever happened to waiting until morning to make the final call?????? Now we've wasted resources and school days.
@darylo I feel your frustration but three days isn't much. My daughter teaches in NC and they have missed close t two weeks with a few days here and a few days there. I used to feel like you do when I worked at the school but I only lived a mile or so from it.. Not until I saw how far some kids had to go or how early they had to get on the bus did I realize the complexity of making those decisions! Granted they dropped the ball last year which is probably why they are erring on the side of caution this year but weather is not an absolute and when it comes to the safety of other people's children I believe it is better to err on the side of caution.
Your daughter looks stunning! I feel for you re school closings. Chicago is now well into June because of snow days. One of my students is now worried re her wedding date as the length of the school year stretches out.
this is an absolutely stunning shot of her! FAV
