I know that they are famous for being tall, and in the Benmore gardens (near Dunoon in Argyll) today we saw a whole avenue of these enormous kings of the forest.
However I thought the trunks were fascinating; so soft to the touch and layered/ wrinkled like geological strata. Hence this shot tries to capture the textured bark AND the enormity of the tree.
Tree trunks are full of history when you think about it ! wonderful perspective !!
