Today I drove down to Bristol, Rhode Island, about 60 miles south west of Boston, to visit Blithewold, a beautiful mansion on Narragansett Bay. It was built as a summer house in 1908, a period I love. I don't think there's ever been a better era for gracious living.
The top left photo is the view of Narragansett Bay from the sleeping porch off the main bedroom. In clockwise order: the view from the terrace, a little fish pond in the garden, view from the shore looking toward the town of Bristol, view from the shore looking south, steps from the north porch to the garden.
