Connecticut River at Old Saybrook

On the two days of my Connecticut trip there was perfect cool, sunny weather with the most beautiful clouds. Wherever I drove, I got to watch the clouds ahead of me.

This is taken on the west side of the Connecticut River near Old Saybrook Point. The Connecticut River is New England's longest; it originates near the Canadian border and 400-odd miles later spills into the Long Island Sound right near here.

Old Saybrook is also where Katherine Hepburn's family had their summer house. She always returned here and lived here year round in her later years and died here. She called it "paradise." There is a performing arts center in the village dedicated to her, which the local people call "the Kate."
I remember this area of Connecticut fondly (grew up on the north shore of Long Island and had friends in the Darien area) The colors is your shot are just beautiful.

Thank you again, Milanie, for your comment. I grew up on Long Island too--not on the north shore, but quite near Cold Spring Harbor and Huntington. I haven't been back there in thirty years at least. I'm a New Englander now!

Yes, this part of Connecticut is nice, although I don't go there often. I think I could see the end of the north fork of Long Island across the Sound the other night.
