A beautiful clear day today, sky so pretty, water deep blue. Back to a winter landscape. We were unable to carry on with our walk beyond this point, though (and this was right at the beginning) because there was a thin coat of sheer ice on the path, and I fell. I wasn't hurt except for a bruise on my knee but could not risk going on and possibly breaking a bone. Disappointing, as I wanted to see the snowy landscape all around the Pond.
Later I read in the Globe that hospital emergency rooms in Boston were flooded with people who had fallen on ice and broken bones.
