It's the famous King St. at Old Town Alexandria. Despite the rain, it was still buzzing with life. And those festive Christmas lights are a year-round thing. It's a great place for a walk at night (if you don't mind the occasional young professional waltzing around in his/her drunken stupor).
I used a tripod. The camera was around 1.5 feet off the ground. The tricky part was timing. If the traffic light changed in the middle of the shot, it created a bizarre sequence of red, yellow, and green traffic lights (as if the traffic lights were malfunctioning and all three lights were on). I tested out few aperture settings to conjure up the right amount of exposure.
@christy1 Yes, it's definitely a great place to gave a drink with friends. You were probably at either Murphy's or Pat Troy's. The Torpedo Factory is just around the corner too. You should check it out if you haven't. Well, the next time you visit.
Beautuful capture of the night lights. Have just looked through your old photos Justin and I love the way you capture the light in each shot, the use of light and dark and shadows....brilliant - and very inspirational :-)
