@danig Yes, this dragonfly is real. I caught it yesterday perched on the top of a long twig. It stayed there just long enough for me to take three shots. My fourth shot is just of the sky...they are so quick!
@jobesekama Hard to believe, isn't it? This dragonfly was flitting around some flowers and then shot up to the tip of this stem. Had to go with it....flower or not.
Great shot. I thought you were taking these post mortem :) I saw and article about butterflies where you catch and put them in the fridge to make them dorment. You can then take them out and stage the photo. They wake up and fly away unharmed. It is what they do on cold nights in nature.
@mwarren365 What an interesting concept. I was involved in a butterfly release once and this is exactly what they had done. The butterflies were in envelopes which had been refrigerated. As they warmed up, they could fly. This dragonfly, however, was the real deal. About 3 feet above my head.
Found this on the pop page! It is quite stunning and couldn't understand why I hadn't caught it before. You have left wonderful comments for me lately and I found I wasn't following you!!! Sorry and rectified now. Congratulations on such an amazing photograph :-)
amazing.
