Momma cat Freya by dfarrington

Momma cat Freya

I do a lot of fostering and photos are so important in getting potential adopters interested in your crew. This is one of the momma kitty, only 9 months old, but spayed and ready to find her own forever home. Total sweetheart.

@gardenfolk CC, I am well, and so sorry to be completely absent here lately! I hope you are well too. The fires out there are so scary. I've been very occupied for the last couple months with a foster dog I have who is just a huge emotional mess, very damaged. She's also very sweet, but definitely a project dog for the foreseeable future. My husband and I have finally decided that she isn't adoptable in her current condition, and may never be. But she feels safe in our home, and gets along with everyone. So we decided today to just adopt her so I can go ahead with the work she needs to help her, rather than keeping all that on hold for an adopter who may never appear. So she has been lots of work, and I have three foster kittens who were feral as well, and time gets away from me! The camera sits quietly on the shelf waiting for me to have more time for photography, but live creatures and their needs come first right now.

@dfarrington Hi Debra...I hope the new dog worked out well and she feels much safer and happy with you. And those kittens were the cutest! I hope they all found homes.

Katniss and Sophie Belle are doing great. Plus, the neighbor cat, Peanut Butter, likes our yard and family better than his own. :) He visits us daily, sometimes several times a day to the upset of Katniss! Katniss chases him back to the fence and tries to get him to leave. But, he doesn't get the hint and luckily there have been no physical altercations...just lots of hissing from Katniss! Take care! :)

@gardenfolk CC - so good of you to stay in touch! The dog we adopted had a sad ending which still hurts us. She had an acl problem and a spinal problem, we discovered, and she wasn't a candidate for surgery or PT or anything because she was so dangerous when she was in pain. We worked so hard to help her - had an amazing behaviorist who helped us make some good progress with her. But in the end she was in a lot of pain and we couldn't fix that, and we had to let her go. The only blessing is that I think she'd had a very rough life, and she came to know she was loved her, or at least we think and hope she did. It was incredibly painful letting her go, and still hurts.

And there have been many cats and kittens since Freya - have a fun momma and babies right now. All got great homes and I keep in touch with some of the folks who have adopted. We've had two foster dogs as well that got wonderful homes.

I'm glad to hear your two are well, though I can imagine that Katniss isn't at all pleased to have the neighbor cat try to move in! Cats are not at all good about sharing space with intruders. Maybe Peanut Butter has a crush on Katniss!!

Please feel free to be in touch via email if you wish as well, since I am not here at all anymore. dfarrington5@gmail.com. My hubby and I are moving into semi-retirement on the pet sitting business and kept only 30 clients so we are hoping for less stressful days soon. Right now everyone wants to travel since they haven't been able to for the last year, but I think that will calm down in a few months and we look forward to a quieter schedule.
