Spent the day home with my daughter, who has been battling a stomach bug since about 6:00 this morning. Because of that, we've all been kind of keeping our distance from her (I'm really hoping that I don't spend Mother's Day throwing up). So I thought it would be fitting to fulfill @geertje 's wish and provide a view of my "garden" from a distance.
This is pretty much it - the peony and a handful of leftover bluebells in the foreground, with my half-dozen dead daffodils and half-dozen tulips in the mid-ground, and my rose hedge in the background (although there are more roses around the side of the house). The big brown spot in the background are two of the roses that appear to be completely dead. Not pictured is my little hydrangea bush, which was to my left when I took this photo. Originally, I had planned to have a bulb garden that would extend about 8 or so feet along our path, but I got about 3 feet into it and stopped (the hyacinths and crocuses I planted were a no-show this year, and only had one very small grape hyacinth make an appearance).
And now, you see why I spend so much time wandering through my neighbor's garden - someday, I'll have to take a shot of hers from a distance, too!
Thanks for posting this! I love the bokeh going on in the rose! And I think it looks really pretty! Thanks for pointing out where everything is and I hope the bulbs that didn't show, will grow next year...
I like the bokeh you got in this from your background flowers. Think of an undone garden as part of a life spent with all things in moderation; what might you have missed out on had you spent that time in the garden? (as I ask that I think to myself I should have spent more time in the garden this weekend as there is a very large and unwanted thistle making it's home in my front yard)
