Happy New Year everyone!
We have a multitude of feathered creatures. The black speckled hen hatched the ducklings, so they think she is their mum! The chooks had eaten all greenery in sight, so we devised some cages to plant silver beet and spinach - the hens can reach into it while balancing on the top - they eat the greenery, but cannot scratch out the plants. The ducks cannot balance on the top, so reach in from the ground. We have the chook run divided into 4 areas, so rotate the poultry, giving the greenery chance to regenerate. We now get lovely rich yellow-yolked eggs.
