I had heard about this old wharf, but hadn't had a chance to track it down. While Chook and I were away on the weekend, we asked a fisherman for directions. What a great place to try out a long exposure image.
To all you local 365ers - this is a great place to try long exposure and the 'big stopper' filter. @julzmaioro@alinz@yorkshirekiwi@nickspicsnz@tramway - go to Burke Street in Thames, and right at the end, hidden by a grassy mound is this little gem. Today was a grey and boring day light wise, but with an ND filter and tripod, this was the result. (Tickled up a bit with photoshop elements).
@karlow75 - I remember you once put up an image of your girls on an old wharf a bit like this - that was part of the inspiration for this image - thanks.
Oh wow that is amazing. Love it that the birds all sat still for your long exposure too. Thanks for the heads-up on this location, we have also been told about a hide down there on a boardwalk that the tide comes in around, so it almost seems like a good excuse to go there.
@dide Really great shot - you definitely made the best of a grey day. It's along the cycle way isn't it? We went there last summer. There were some funky coloured sculptures and benches along the route but I liked all the matchstick people.
Wow absolutely fantastic image in so many ways, wonderful viewpoint, lead in, detail, timing, depth of field and lovely tones, a big favourite Dianne :)
