Drama

In the middle of the night last night, all the outside sensor lights suddenly came on and the dog started barking crazily. There was a strange noise that I couldn't identify and then the chooks all started making a racket. This was the result - a stray dog has killed one duck and the four young hens - it has pretty much demolished the cage!
What a sad day for you...

Lets hope the dog can be caught because it could wreck havic in a rural community .. poor chookies..

How awful ... must be a pretty big dog. My neighbours lost two chooks to a large hawk just recently.

Sad to hear this. Good that you have documented it. That dog needs to be put down.
October 9th, 2016

October 9th, 2016
This is horrible. Poor ducks and hens.

Such a shame Dianne, that dog cause a lot of damage to livestock and property, we would have put it down to foxes over here, foxes would have taken the birds away and hidden them for later:)
October 9th, 2016
Oh no, what a terrible thing to happen.
October 9th, 2016
oh no that is really devastating :(
October 9th, 2016
My gosh, is that a stray dog's work? I would have thought it was a hungry bear.

October 9th, 2016

October 9th, 2016
Heartbreaking to wake up to that Dianne, I thoughtbat first it might be a fox but then remembered you are lucky enough not to have them in NZ. Hope the dog gets caught soon....poor hens!
October 9th, 2016
so awful
October 9th, 2016
Oh no, you can get a dog trap from the council but you would need to watch your own ones. Alot of damage too..
October 9th, 2016
How devastating !! -you can not understand how animals can be so cruel towards another species of animal
October 9th, 2016
Oh blooming heck, what a disaster and bad luck too, not many stray dogs around these days. When I was on the farm we came home a little bit late from dinner with a neighbour and found all our young turkies dead and mauled by a fox.

One of Kirsty's digs killed our poor Ginger tonight Dianne, we are so upset about it. The dog managed to lift the latch of the door to the van & escaped! We had to make light of it but we were really cross. Poor Ginger didn't deserve that!
October 11th, 2016
@happypat that's a real shame as I know how much you enjoyed Ginger and how upset Kirsty will be too.
