This was one of the creative entries in the camera club competition last night. The judge thought it was ok, but would have preferred that it was flipped, so the curves went the other way! At least I got a highly commended for it. I'll have to learn how to flip an image in PS elements! It is a folded magazine with lime material reflecting the light - I got the inspiration from other 365 folk.
@aecasey@spanner@julzmaioro Apparently we 'read' images from left to right and it would have been easier to 'read' with the lower lines coming from the left!
I think this shot is beautiful regardless of the way it is flipped. I find with judges that at the end of the day it is just their opinion and they have to appreciate that others differ.
This looks great to me also Dianne, your judge is basically saying for a more dramatic image the folds should run left to right not right to left, to flip your image in Photoshop, load the image then click on the image pull down menu at the of the page highlight image rotation then click flip canvas horizontally and hey presto its facing the other way have a go see what you think, hope this is of help:)
@dide I see. I made a similar comment to my sister-in-law about how she hung a photo of some colorful red rock striations ... she oriented it as it appears in it's natural setting and I liked it landscaped with the lines running horizontally left to right. She thought I was a bit off but I told her I thought maybe I liked it that way because of how we were taught to read. She hung it portrait as it appears naturally.
And what on earth does flipping them the other way do except pander to the judges personall preference...a fool!! It's like tourist board inspectors they have to find something to criticise!
