This wreck is just north of Kaiaua, about an hours drive from home. I was hoping for a decent image for 'broken' for camera club. Last night, before we got here, the moon rose beautifully and I imagine it would have looked magnificent in behind the wreck…. Never mind, this was how it looked this morning with the very weak sun hitting the side of it. It seems it may be called the Guy C. Goss - a wooden barque built in Maine around 1879. First used in timber trade, then salmon fishing in Alaska. Sailed to NZ in 1926 with a load of timber. There was a dispute over wages and she was left in Auckland for a while before being towed to the Firth of Thames and used by a shingle company for storage and workers' residence. I think this information is correct!
