The new view

In the distance, to the west of our house, is a new feature on the skyline. For months there has been a project going on, and now we can visibly see the results. It is a wind turbine, the first of its kind in this district. Other places in NZ have wind farms, so this might be the start of more things to come. Yesterday the blades were put in place, so when we get a decent sunset, I will put up the new profile.

Great shot and story. How do you folks feel about this development? I'm totally in favour, but no-one's putting them in my 'back-yard'.

@golftragic At first I wasn't keen, but it is a distance from our place. Hopefully it won't be a problem with the farmers closer to the turbine.

@dide OK. I find myself very torn about these kinds of developements. One the one hand fossil fuel must be phased out, but on the other hand the implementation of green replacements needs to be carefully monitored in a transparent and equitable manner.
