These people were loading the jet ski after a spot of fishing near Cornwallis on the northern end of the Manukau Harbour. They had some difficulty in the rough water - unfortunately the car was getting more and more salt water washing up underneath it. Luckily some other surf ski drivers helped them to load up.
What an embarrassment. I'll bet the faces matched the car. What a way to treat a car like that, King Canute didn't have any success holding back the tide, and nothing's changed since.
@golftragic we couldnât fathom them out and wondered if it was the first outing for the JetSki. They jackknifed the trailer so badly trying to back down the beach that the bumper had a big split in it!
@golftragic yep - hopefully they were competent on the water - at least they were wearing life jackets. Itâs not too far from here where the harbour goes out to the ocean, so boatskills and knowing about tides becomes extra important.
