Skies

As other NZ folk from the 365 community have said, today’s skies were a strange phenomenon. This was taken mid afternoon and is a result of smoke from the devastating bush fires in Australia. It became dark and eerie and is a reminder of how scary it must be in Australia. If only they could get some decent rain to help quell the infernos.
Sorry Dianne its only going to get worse. We woke to orange skies this morning.

It's a very strange colour.
Very sad situation and the scale of it is almost impossible to comprehend. Hope and pray for big rain soon.

@harbie we’re ok in NZ, but it’s dreadful in Australia.

Horrible! How much still needs to happen for us to understand that this is not a news from a distant country, but it is happening on our Earth!

As you know I am not posting photos at the moment but I just dropped in and spotted your photo. So sorry you are being affected by our fires.
If you could send some rain in return it would be very much appreciated.
I can't see the situation improving in the near future.

Sorry to hear that you are affected from the southern Australian fires. My daughter in Whangerei sent me a shot of the Auckland sky looking the same. We are desperately for rain

I have seen reports here in the states about the fires they seem to be worse even than the California fires. I hope the rains come soon. The sky does not look healthy for you either.

A weird light. Scary!

So devastating for that country. I saw yesterday a plane load of American firefighters flew to Australia to help. This photo says it all, it’s a disaster of such magnitude it’s hard to imagine, really.

Fantastic image Dianne almost a sepia sky showing the effects in New Zealand of the devistating fires in Australia:)

I hope it rains soon in Australia. It's heartbreaking seeing pictures of the devastation and hearing about the animals.
We've had skies that color in Iowa USA from fires in Canada.

So much sorry for all the animals that has lost there life in the fires.
And for the people that have lost there homes. To sad.
Great shot never the less.

Wow... that's an intense sky!

An amazing sky, giving an unusual image! I saw satalite images yesterday which showed the massive plumes of smoke from Australia spreading towards New Zealand. It is hard to imagine the enormous scale and destruction the wild fires are causing.

Amazing shot

It's so sad. This is a grate capture of a very eerie scene. A friend sent me a video of my home town in the far north and it was so weird for want of a better word. Like you I pray Australia gets some real rain soon. You would think that in this day and age with all the science and technology we have something could be done to stop these fires.
