Jesse took us to the Whangamomona Hotel for dinner the other night and it was a lovely meal. Such an interesting place on the 'Forgotten Highway'. It has a great history; in 1989 the council redrew the boundaries and the small town was drawn into the Manawatu Region. The locals were not happy about being removed from the Taranaki Region, so they protested. Whangamomona was declared a Republic and has continued with the joke. A biennial election is held for the President. Among past presidents are a poodle and a goat!!
