The central plateau by dide

The central plateau

As we headed for home today, we drove through the Desert Road. This is central North Island and pretty rugged terrain. There wasn't much snow on Ruapehu and no snow at all on Ngauruhoe (the smaller bump to the right of Chook). We stopped here for a cuppa and some lunch and enjoyed a view we don't get to see very often.
Ha - @jyokota and @pcoulson - here's another couple of Maori place names for you to try!
