Grassmere Salt Lakes by dide

Grassmere Salt Lakes

I shared an image the other day with the pile of salt produced from the Grassmere Lakes. This is a view across the area where the saline water evaporates and leaves the salt behind. You can see by the colour of the nearby hills that this is a very low rainfall area.
Beautiful layers of colour in this photo.
Nature's wonders.
And nice to look back on some of your previous posts too!

Gorgeous layers. You can have some of our rain. After years of drought here in NSW we are now getting waterlogged. I am beginning to get webbed feet.

What a fascinating place....would there be a salt mine that had pink salt Dianne or am I dreaming it?

@happypat I read somewhere that the pinkish colour here is from tiny sea shrimp like creatures.

Super scenery and layers.

I think we are going to come out the other side into a very different world, wether we ever get back to ‘normal’ will be a slow process.
