Nikau by dide

Nikau

These inflorescences are on a nihau palm tree. It is a native of New Zealand and starts as a trunkless fern. It takes 40-50 years to grow a trunk and is the most southerly palm in the world. The inflorescences mature into berries which the native wood pigeon (kereru) love to eat.
How amazing - I have never heard or seen of such a plant - great info and capture !
