I Glance At These Hands, Are They Mine
They're Aged, All Wrinkled, Are They Truly Mine
It Seems Like Only Yesterday They Were Still Quite Strong
To A Much Stronger Woman These Hands Once Belonged
Life Passed So Quickly, Where Did It Go
The Memories, The Feelings, Still Fresh As The Snow
I Loved When He Held Me, Oh So Much In Love
Though Life Had Its Heartaches, We Drew Strength From Above
How I Long To Be Held In Your Arms As Before
The Memories Now Are What's Left To Adore
I Patiently Wait, Though My Heart Be In Pain
Waiting And Yearning To Be Together Again
Words By Rick Schies
Looking at these hands I can't help but think of Grandma. After Grandpa passed, she missed him so, and she just longed to go with him. Her faith afforded her the patience to wait on Him, Seven years she waited, but now together they are, and I'm sure they are hand in hand.
These are actually the hands of another sweet little Lady. She wondered what I wanted it for. I explained. She was delighted. I wrote the poem from memories of conversations we had during our visits with her.
Love it! This is very touching. Both the photo and the poem, and the sentiments. I know several couples who when one has passed the other followed shortly behind.
My Dad died the night my mom ended up as a patient in his nursing home, in his room. It was like he was waiting for her. She died 7 months later. This is truly touching, Rick.
What a touching photograph and very moving commentary...you've created a lovely testiment to your grandmother and a work of art in your offering here.

Wow! I deeply understand how your grandmother felt as I wish the same things as well. It's hard to be patient for whatever He wants and to trust as well. Your photo really captures my struggle with waiting.
Rick, this your photo and poem are magical. I am reminiscing about my grandmother who died many years ago as I type ... thank you for bringing back lovely memories.
Oh my word............this has given me the tingles. For those who have been together for so long, how hard it must be for theone left behind. If I may I will keep this for my mum as we lost dad just last year.
I find hands so expressive and you have done a great job at capturing a life in this picture. I have to say i am very impressed with your accompanying poem which really highlights this pic. You are a very talented man!
